Python
At first, I looked at Ruby; very good, but it changed very quickly.I then tried Python (2) some time ago, but dropped it while trying to learn Java for an abortive CS degree attempt. Since then, I am looking at Python 3, looks good.
Snek is not quite a subset of Python, but Python-like language written for AVR microcontrollers (and others); hope to test it soon once some existing projects are finished up..
